Jake returns to ASU for Shroom Symposium

Jake Plummer, the former Arizona State quarterback and Sun Devil Football Ring of Honor inductee, returned to campus to champion the cause of functional mushrooms. Invited by the ASU Shroom Society, he spoke at their "shroom symposium."

With a twinkle in his eye, he mused on his legendary 1996 season for the Sun Devils. Jake, now a prominent advocate for functional mushrooms, especially for use in athletic performance and athletic recovery, shared how his football career took a toll on his well-being, leading him on a path to explore natural health remedies.

An advocate for functional mushrooms in athletic performance and athletic recovery

Cronkite News, produced by the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, quotes Jake:

(Football) is very brutal on your body, very damaging. Not only to your physical and mental, but also your spiritual health. It can be very hard to recover and find who you really are after you’ve been put into this limelight, playing a game and becoming this person of such grandeur.

The State News covered the event as well, saying that functional mushrooms can be a tool people and athletes can use to potentially improve their lives. They quote Jake:

When you unearth that potential, it’s understanding as humans, we're programmed for health, we're programmed to thrive, to have vitality, and to live the best lives we can.

As a 2023 Fiesta Bowl Grand Marshal, Jake is on a mission to spread the message of optimizing health and wellness, underlining the significance of functional mushrooms in a world awakening to their healing potential.
